The greatest threat to any free society is not disagreement. It’s the death of curiosity. When people stop asking questions, stop listening, and stop thinking independently, they don’t just lose the debate. They lose their minds. Intelligence isn’t loud. It isn’t rigid. It’s the quiet strength to remain open and discerning in a world begging you to follow blindly.
The Sightline Perspective
In a world fueled by uncertainty and outrage, the ability to reclaim your purpose and personal power is one of the most attractive, rare, and transformative things you can do not only for yourself but for every person you encounter. Your next chapter is unwritten. The pen is still in your hand.
About.
Who Is Carrie Joan, What Is MyMind Publishing and What Can You Expect?
Hello,
Every day, people are pulled in a hundred directions, reacting instead of reasoning. We’re flooded with advice, headlines, and social media opinions, yet few voices help us understand ourselves or the world any better. People argue to belong and they post to be seen. They shout before they think and they moralize before they listen. They mistake outrage for strength and belonging for belief.
We are living in an age of emotional adolescence, where many have accepted the role of a toddler in a digital highchair, throwing tantrums and posting far-leaning rants, declaring who they voted for, or parading their fundamentalism, racism, tribalism, and intolerance like medals of virtue.
The more connected we’ve become online, the more divided we’ve grown within. Jonathan Haidt once said that we are divided because our moral reasoning evolved for tribal survival. He was right. We make emotional judgments first and then build logic to defend them, often aligning with our side rather than our conscience. Where Haidt says, “We are divided because our moral reasoning evolved for tribal survival,” I believe, “Yes, but now we have the power to consciously evolve our minds beyond tribal survival.”
Many don’t even realize they’ve stopped thinking. They confuse outrage with strength and mistake hostility for love of country. True patriotism holds space for many voices, many stories, and one shared future. You cannot love your country while hating half of it.
I believe conversation, curiosity, humor, language, cuisine, music, dance, and creativity are not just hobbies. They are civic responsibilities. They keep a culture alive. They are the heartbeat of a healthy society. A person who creates, listens, and accepts helps repair more than one who argues to win. We can choose participation over polarization. We can choose art over outrage. We can choose community over politics. I believe we can still be grounded, imaginative, emotionally intelligent, and able to disagree without dehumanizing.
My writing isn’t about escaping the modern world. It’s about rebalancing within it. To stay interested in life and curious about the world. To be a creator and someone who makes things, grows things, builds things, and plays. To use our intelligence as a tool for creation, not contention. It’s about building the kind of inner world that attracts good people and good moments. When your mind is clear and your heart is generous, you draw better friendships, better love, better opportunities.
And every letter I write, every product I create, every word I send, is my way of saying: Enjoy today. Make something good happen. Laugh with someone. Share your smile. Dance. Release. Forgive. Play.
Because that’s where real intelligence lives.
With respect and purpose,
Origin story.
Since 2005, I have worked in online publishing and built multiple email-based memberships. For years my focus was on helping men grow through my project, The WholeMan Lifestyle. It was a space about development, purpose, and strength, but also humor, honesty, and reflection.
Over time, I began to notice a shift. Not only in the industry, but in the people reading. The world was changing fast, and it was changing minds. I started seeing more anger and fear in my readers and clients. More loneliness and isolation. More people jumping to conclusions without all the facts and reacting before they thought.
But alongside that, many of the men I worked with wanted to understand influence and identity, not just confidence or relationships. More women began writing in, wanting to take part in the same kind of exploration. I realized this was no longer only a conversation about men. It was about being human in a fast-paced digital world that often pulls us away from our core selves and better nature.
I've also watched people I love, friends, colleagues, and even family, become absorbed by the storm. Reposting outrage. Sharing conspiracies without question. Reacting with anger, suspicion, and fear as if it were awareness.
I began to see they were not just being influenced. They were being rewritten. Their thoughts, their tone, even their sense of self had been hijacked by echo chambers and algorithm-fed certainty.
I saw how easily people can lose themselves when they stop questioning. I saw how we are slowly losing culture, depth, and civility. How we are trading thought for reaction and ethics for outrage.
Some friends, colleagues, clients, and family I could no longer stay close to. It was not healthy to keep that kind of myopic or isolationist thinking, or the constant outrage mindset, in my life. So I created distance. And with distance came a kind of perspective. I began to see how widespread the loss had become. How thinking was shrinking. How decency and curiosity were fading. The space helped me see the cost more clearly, and it deepened my belief that we can think, create, and live better than this.
That is when MyMind Publishing began. In April 2025, I closed The WholeMan Lifestyle and began shifting my focus toward a broader vision.
I believe real patriotism begins with the mind. It is not about sides, slogans, or outrage. A nation grows through its creators, listeners, and thinkers. Through music and ideas. Through curiosity. A healthy country depends on people who research, contemplate, and build with respect.
Integrity, craftsmanship, and courage are the truest forms of loyalty. They keep a country alive and protect the culture we create together.

MyMind Recon™
MyMind Recon™ is your personal mental defense system. They are proprietary self-reflection questions designed to help you identify where the modern world may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, and choices.
MyMind Recon™ questions serve as reconnaissance, helping you spot distortions, regain clarity, and strengthen your Extensive-Focused Self against the constant pressures of outrage culture, manipulation, and distraction.
Use them to check your bearings, realign your perspective, and protect your mind from being quietly hijacked by the environment around you. Journal them if you wish.

The media profits from division. The political system survives on it. But you are under no obligation to feed it. You were built to see clearly and think for yourself. You are not meant to be a passive consumer of rage. You are meant to be a creator, a connector, and a critical thinker. The Extensive-Focused Self is not found in echo chambers. It is built when you take control of your inputs, question the narratives, and reorient your mind toward what is real, useful, and meaningful.
